Albert Lin, MD

Dr. Albert Lin is a board-certified Orthopaedic Surgeon. He is Chief of the Shoulder Service and Associate Chief of Sports Medicine at UPMC, Co-Director of the Pittsburgh Shoulder Institute, associate program director of the UPMC Sports Medicine Fellowship, and Associate Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. Within UPMC, he is Co-Chair of the Shoulder and Sports Medicine Steering Committee, and he serves on the Patient Education Governance Committee, the Professional Development Subcommittee of the GMEC, and Surgical Services Oversight Committee of UPMC East. He is the head orthopaedic team physician for Duquesne University and Pittsburgh Central Catholic High School. Dr. Lin specializes in the care of athletes and shoulder conditions. Patients and athletes from around the nation and world are routinely referred to Dr. Lin for his extensive experience in shoulder arthroscopy and arthroplasty, as well as in complex reconstructive and open surgery of the shoulder. His research interests include shoulder instability, rotator cuff pathology, and shoulder arthroplasty, and include both clinical studies and basic science research. Dr. Lin holds several national research grants as a principal investigator with the National Institute of Health, in addition to the Department of Defense, for biomechanical research in addition to multicenter clinical trials.
