Thomas R. Hackett, MD

Dr. Thomas Hackett is an Orthopaedic Surgeon and Sports Medicine Specialist.  He has been a partner at The Steadman Clinic in Vail, Colorado for over 15 years. Currently, he is the Director of Education for The Steadman Clinic and The Steadman-Philippon Research Institute and oversees a wide array of Sports Medicine educational and research initiatives. He has been heavily involved in sports and has served as a team physician at many major sporting events from the sidelines of college bowl games to the benches of the NBA Playoffs, Stanley Cup games, and the dugout of The World Series. He continues to serve as an Orthopaedic resource for professional sports teams and Olympic NGBs. Dr. Hackett currently serves as a Team Physician for the US Ski Team and is the Head Team Physician for US Snowboarding.  He served as the Team Physician at the Vancouver games in 2010, the Sochi games in 2014, and at PyeongChang in 2018 as well as at hundreds of training camps, world cups, and world championships internationally and nationally. Dr. Hackett and The Steadman Clinic have a long-time partnership as a U.S. Olympic National Medical Center and are one of the few centers designated by the International Olympic Committee as a worldwide research center in the prevention of injury and protection of athlete health. A collegiate athlete himself, Dr. Hackett holds a unique ability to interface between the many facets of sports medicine including athletes, coaches, industry sponsors, sports agencies, and more.
