Volker Musahl, MD

Dr. Volker Musahl is a board-certified Orthopaedic Surgeon, specializing in Orthopaedic Sports Medicine. He currently serves as the Medical Director of the UPMC Rooney Sports Medicine Complex, Program Director of the Sports Medicine Fellowship program, and a professor of both Bioengineering and Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Musahl is also a world-renowned sports surgeon and has performed knee and shoulder surgery on many international professional football players. He specializes in sports medicine and provides comprehensive care for patients of all ages with injuries to the knee, shoulder, and elbow. Dr. Musahl’s research interests include bioengineering research of the knee and shoulder. He is Assistant Editor-In-Chief for KSSTA and is recognized by Best Doctor's Inc. on the Best Doctors List in Pittsburgh Magazine. Dr. Musahl is also the co-head team physician for the Pitt Varsity Football Team and co-director of the Orthopaedic Robotics Laboratory at the University of Pittsburgh. He is a multi-sport athlete himself, having competed in duathlon world championships for the U.S. national team.
